Game Industry creates Play For Japan

It’s so wonderful to see everybody coming together and helping out Japan. The earthquake/tsunami has devastated thousands, and people are still missing. This tragic event is sad, and seems like something out of a movie. Apart from all this sadness, there is a bright side. The videogame industry is heavily tied with Japan, this is why Playforjapan was created. Play for Japan is an online charity designed to raise awareness and help fund the disaster overseas.

“The goal of Play For Japan is to aggregate and promote online auctions of items culled from the resources of its members – videogame rarities, art, signed games, etc. – in order to generate donations for disaster relief.”

On the site you will find rare collectibles that are for sale on Ebay, the money made from these sales will go directly American Red Cross, Global Giving, International Medical Corps, Save the Children, and UNICEF. If you wish to help, please spread the word check them out on:

  • Twitter
  • Facebook

Bottom Line: The gaming industry is coming together and helping out the hurt victims of the Japan Earthquake/Tsunami. If you are thinking of purchasing, you eill be getting the best of both worlds. You get a kick-ass collectible, and help the devastated souls that survived the disaster.

Help Japan Through The PSN

If you have been wanting to help Japan after the devastating events that took place last week, well it just got easier especially for PS3 gamers. Sony have set up an appeal to Japan in the Playstation Store. You can make donations in the amount of €2, €5, €10, €20 directly from your wallet. Doing this also gives you access to the exclusive Sunrise Blossom Theme.

“It’s important to note that your contributions will go directly to the British Red Cross, part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement – Japan Tsunami Appeal. Every penny and cent will go to the fund, which supports emergency relief and recovery efforts, including deploying personnel, sending relief supplies and providing financial resources.”

Bottom Line: My respect for Sony just went up, and as all gamers would agree, I expect other gaming giants to follow suit.

Capcom takes part in the Japan Relief

Ever since the tragic event in Japan, more and more people businesses, and companies are coming together to help. Lately almost every website I have visited, has a donate to red cross link. I’m so proud of us as ahuman society for coming together and helping each other out. With that being said, Capcom will be getting on board to help! So far the Japaneese company has donated 100m yen and implemented a number of other initiatives to assist relief efforts in the affected areas of Japan.

Apart from the donation, Capcom will also have a reduced price for Street Fighter on the iPhone. The game will have a reduced cost of 115 yen/59p/99c, and all the proceeds in all markets will go to the relief efforts. Players of Capcom’s monster hunter frontier online affected by the disaster will not have to pay their monthly usage fees. Capcom will also close and shorten hours at its amusement centers. This effort is to ease the use of Tokyo’s electric power, that is strongly needed for other sources.

Bottom Line: Apart from Capcom, other Companies like Sony, Nintendo, Namco, and Bandai are showing their support for the victims as well.
